President Mnangagwa seals historic ZANU PF Conference in Mutare

“ZANU PF is Alive, Vibrant and Strong”

The curtain came down yesterday on the 22nd ZANU PF National People’s Conference in Mutare, with President and First Secretary Cde Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa declaring the indaba a resounding success and a defining moment in the Party’s ongoing march towards Vision 2030.

In a spirited and visionary closing address, President Mnangagwa hailed the Conference as a model of unity, organisation and purpose, describing it as a “historic and transformative gathering” that reaffirmed ZANU PF’s position as the only tried, tested and trusted custodian of Zimbabwe’s revolution.

“The organisation has been impeccable. The Conference has showcased the vibrancy of our Party and the growing ability of our nation to host large events. Congratulations. Makorokoto. Amhlophe,” said the President to thunderous applause.

Unity, discipline and constitutional order

The President emphasised that the enduring strength of ZANU PF lies in its unity, discipline, and strict adherence to the Party Constitution. He urged all members — from the lowest structures to the top leadership — to uphold the principle of collective decision-making and loyalty to the revolutionary cause.

“Each Party member must subject themselves to the Constitution; the minority to the majority, and lower structures to higher structures,” he said.

“All must defer to the authority of the Central Committee, National People’s Conference and Congress. That is how we maintain our revolutionary order.”

President Mnangagwa commended delegates for their robust, factual and forward-looking deliberations, saying the resolutions passed at the Conference had set a solid foundation for accelerating national development and deepening people-centred governance.

Driving development from the grassroots

Turning to the economic front, the President urged Party structures to immediately operationalise Conference resolutions into concrete development programmes that deliver tangible results at village, ward, district and provincial levels.

“We all have a sacred duty to act and work harder, lifting our people from poverty into prosperity,” said the President.

“The Whole-of-Party, Government and Society Approach must guide our implementation of the National Development Strategy 2. Collaboration and synergy are key to progress.”

He cited ongoing projects such as the National Pharmaceutical Warehouse Facility at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital and the Mega Market Milling Plant as examples of the Government’s continued commitment to devolution and rural industrialisation.

Championing social responsibility and environmental stewardship

President Mnangagwa applauded the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, for leading national campaigns on cancer awareness, drug and substance abuse, and other cross-cutting social causes. He also launched the National Tree Planting Season, urging citizens to safeguard the environment as part of the broader development agenda.

“Our Party must lead in promoting environmental stewardship. Sustainable development demands responsibility and care for the land that sustains us,” he said.

Economic modernisation and national confidence

The President reaffirmed that Zimbabwe’s economic transformation would continue to be anchored on strengthening value chains in agriculture, mining, manufacturing and tourism, supported by local innovation and community empowerment.

He noted with satisfaction that the exhibitions and business showcases at the Conference reflected growing investor confidence in ZANU PF policies and Zimbabwe’s economic trajectory.

“The confidence that businesses and entrepreneurs continue to show in our Party’s policies is testimony to the soundness of our national direction,” he remarked.

Defying sanctions, affirming sovereignty

President Mnangagwa rallied the nation ahead of SADC Anti-Sanctions Day on October 25, calling for continued unity and mobilisation against the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

“Through combined efforts with our SADC brothers and sisters, the walls of sanctions must crumble. United we stand, divided we fall. Victory is certain,” he said to applause.

He reaffirmed that Zimbabwe will remain steadfast in defending its sovereignty, self-determination and independence from any external interference.

“We are running our own race. No outsider should dictate our course. Let us remain true to our revolutionary path — the politics of Unity, Peace and Development,” he said.

A Call to Action and patriotism

The President urged delegates to carry the spirit of the Conference back to their respective provinces and communities, ensuring that all Party members, including those in the diaspora, are fully informed and mobilised to advance the resolutions.

“Tell our people that ZANU PF and the people’s revolution are marching forward, strong and gaining popularity with every passing day,” he declared.

He called on all leaders to serve the people with humility, dedication and compassion:

“Stay with the people in their successes, hold their hands in their struggles, and serve them wholeheartedly.”

ZANU PF will never turn back”

In his closing remarks, President Mnangagwa reaffirmed the revolutionary Party’s unwavering resolve to deliver on its promises and uphold the legacy of Zimbabwe’s liberation heroes.

“ZANU PF is alive, vibrant and strong. It remains the only organised, tried and tested custodian of our revolution,” he said.

“We will not go back. We shall continue to fulfil what we have promised.”

He then formally declared the 22nd National People’s Conference officially closed, wishing delegates safe journeys and invoking divine blessings upon the nation.

“God bless you all. God bless Zimbabwe. Viva ZANU PF! Pamberi neZANU PF! Pasi nemaSanctions! Pasi neMhandu!”

The 22nd ZANU PF National People’s Conference in Mutare will be remembered as a powerful reaffirmation of unity, discipline and the enduring vision of the Party. It charted a clear path for Zimbabwe’s continued transformation — rooted in self-reliance, economic modernisation, and unwavering patriotism.
