ZANU PF Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Secretary Cde Douglas K Mahiya says his Department is ready to align the successfully vetted combatants and collaborators as total political material ahead of the 2023 Harmonized elections.
The Government through the Defence Ministry has been conducting vetting for those groups in line with Section 23 of the national Constitution.
In an interview Cde Mahiya noted that the process which was long overdue needed the Department to come up with a narrative.
“What was clear is the Department is loaded with a job that who were successful in the vetting process need to be aligned with revolutionary principles in order for the Government to benefit from the dividends of the exercise,” Cde Mahiya said.
“We will put them in the Party structures so that they take mainstream political arena. Thus process will become the permanent communication channel between them and the Party.
“The Party through the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Department will achieve total utilisation of total political material of an estimated 120 000 to be Commissars in the next General elections and a force to ensure victory for President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa in 2023.”
He noted that the programme however had challenges among them age limit to which most of them disclosed they had to change.
Cde Mahiya added that the process must guard against incorporating those who did not play the roles being vetted.
