ZANU PF Secretary for the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Cde Douglas Mahiya says the second phase of the vetting of those who bring about Zimbabwe’s independence is a demonstration of government’s commitment to respecting and honouring them.

His remarks follow the resumption of the second phase of vetting which will determine who participated in the liberation struggle for Zimbabwe.

‘At least the party and government is complying with its constitutional requirement to that accords the veterans of the liberation struggle with respect and honour they deserve. The Party is giving value to those who participated in the liberation struggle,’ he said.

The national Constitution is very clear that Zimbabwe was born out of the liberation struggle. It was a cultural dictate requirement by Zimbabwe’s founding fathers to develop an economy of their political prescription and to fulfil this, the sons and daughters of Zimbabwe committed their lives to achieve this revolution.

‘It is a revolution not an event. It is a process. The revolutionary fundamentals and principles are housed in these people whom the President and First Secretary of the Party Cde E.D Mnangagwa in his wisdom has requested vetting to identify them and respect them for cultural dictate as these principles should be banked and continue to guide the nation.’
