ZANU PF President and First Secretary Cde E.D Mnangagwa says the COVID-19 vaccination drive is now aimed at going beyond herd immunity.
This he said during the Politburo meeting held at the Party Headquarters today.
The country has been recommended for its sterling work in efforts to safeguard its people from the virus that has killed millions globally.
“The National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme is being intensified while external vaccination protocol measures are being enforced. Our thrust is to vaccinate the nation beyond herd immunity,” President Mnangagwa said.
“The national programme now covers young people from the age of 16 years and above. I thus call upon the structures of the Party to continue mobilising our people to get vaccinated.
“We also have in stock enough vaccines which allows vaccinated people a third booster vaccine jab should they so wish.”
To date 4 060 046 people have received their first dose while 3 074 658 have received their second dose.
