Mashonaland East Province is hosting the 2nd edition of the SADC Anti-Sanctions Solidarity Summitt that started today in Mutoko. The program which is running under the theme ‘Advancing Media Laws Towards An Informed Nation in the Fight Against Sanctions’ is being hosted by the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services. In attendance today were representatives from several government ministries, private and public media houses, Mashonaland East business community and scholars.
Speaker after speaker highlighted the effects of sanctions on ordinary Zimbabweans and called for the unconditional removal of the illegal embargoes. However, most presenters also took this opportunity to share ideas on how to combat the effects of sanctions. Ministry of Agriculture presentation touched on how the ministry has tackled the issue of food security as a critical part of economy that previously had been badly affected by the sanctions.
Resolutions from Summitt hovered around the framing of Anti-Sanctions messaging across the board.
