SANCTIONS AGAINST A POSITION OF JUSTICE UNACCEPTABLE: PALESTINE

Palestinian Head of Delegation to the inaugural War Veterans League Conference Dr Uri Davis says sanctions against a position of injustice cannot be accepted.
Speaking upon his arrival Wednesday noon, the member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah Movement and member of the Palestinian National Council said sanctions are necessary only in a position of injustice.
“Sanctions against a position of justice cannot be accepted. Sanctions against a position of injustice are necessary. For instance Israeli as an apartheid state. An apartheid state similar to apartheid in South Africa years prior o Nelson Mandela. Sanctions against South Africa completely justified in the days of apartheid. Sanctions against apartheid in Israel today necessary.”
Dr Davis added that it is a “privilege to be part of the War Veterans League Conference as there is a common history of struggling against settler colonialism and imperialism. The process is carried out in stages. Its never even. It has its ups and downs. ZANU PF can celebrate its independence and its sovereignty. Regrettably in Palestine is yet to achieve Palestinian sovereignty.”
Receiving him at the Robert Mugabe International Airport Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Tamer Almassri said his country continues to stand with Zimbabwe against the illegal sanctions.
“You know the Palestinian position as usual is supporting our comrades who were part of our struggle story. We repeat on all occasions Palestine will continue standing with Zimbabwe against sanctions as Zimbabwe stands with Palestine against Israeli apartheid occupation. Together we can make it.”
ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans League Cde Douglas K Mahiya took time to receive the Palestinian Head of Delegation shortly after a press briefing in which he highlighted the excitement of the war veterans.
He noted that the National Executive elected during this week’s Conference will go out and rekindle the revolutionary spirit in the people of Zimbabwe.
“We are coming in head on to fight neo-colonialialism. We have to re-establish our Ideology. For the period we have not been on the political platform, our Ideology has been distorted. We now need to re-establish that and it is the vision that we had, that we have and that we spoke about during the liberation struggle.”
