ZANU PF Takes a lead in Voter Education in Makoni North

ZANU PF Runyange district’s Secretary for Health Barbara Nyagomo-Chakabva has taken a unique step in educating and encouraging people to register to vote over the long weekend.
Makoni North is one of the areas in the country where voter turn out has not been satisfactory, in 2013 27 439 people registered to vote but only 14 962 votes where casted.
Nyagomo-Chakabva who is also a well known philanthropist capitalised on the masses that were gathered for the reviewing of all the projects that she had implemented in the constituency, to invite Zimbabwe Electorate Commission agents to educate hundreds of people about the process and the importance of voting.
Addressing the masses Nyagomo-Chakabva stressed out the importance of voting for the right candidate who will bring development in the area.
“We should vote for people who will bring development to our doorsteps, people who will represent our needs when they get into office, not self-centred, greedy people”
Being the duaghter to Sabhuku Austin Nyagomo, her heart lies in her ancestral home and has funded a lot of projects to develop the area and empower families.
Through her trust, Barbara Nyagomo Foundation, she has repaired borewholes that last worked in the 1980s in every ward.
Before, there where only two hospitals in Makoni North and people had to travel at least 15Km to get medical assistance.
Songs where sang about Nyagomo-Chakabva because there are now sub-clinics in two wards that are receiving finishing touches and more where promised.
Economically, over 700 families have been empowered through small business machine loans, boer Goats garden seeds, paprika seeds.
Women have benefitted from various business training like making hand bags, jerseys, rabbit rearing and candle making.
