As efforts to repatriate remains of the First Chimurenga gather momentum, ZANU PF Politburo member Cde Stephanie Tendie Mkusha who is also the Deputy Secretary for the Gender and Culture Department says the repatriation is important and involves all the tribes of the country.

She said this alongside the meeting held at the Party Headquarters during which various chiefs among them Chief Makoni and several stakeholders involved in the process were present.

“Repatriation of the remains of the First Chimurenga heroes is very important because this country was attained through the sacrifice and blood of those who perished and live. When the colonizers came they were met with resistance from our heroes from both the likes of Ambuya Nehanda, Sekuru Kaguvi and many from Matabeleland whose skulls were taken as trophies to show the Queen when the white man thought he had won the war,” Cde Mkusha said.

“When Ambuya Nehanda declared that her bones will rise it was not her bones literally but that we as her children would arise with that determination and strength and fight for our country to be independent. This process therefore involves all tribes of Zimbabwe.”
