CUBAN AMBASSADOR PAYS ZANU PF LEADERSHIP A COURTESY CALL

ZANU PF Secretary for External Relations Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi says the outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe Carmelina Ramirez Rodriguez has worked tirelessly to advance cooperation between the two countries.
This he said during a courtesy call paid by the Ambassador at the ZANU PF Headquarters in Harare this week.
The good relations between the two countries date back to many years ago with the former late President Cde Robert Mugabe cultivating a remarkable relationship.
Speaking during the meeting Cde Mumbengegwi noted that it was a sad moment to hear the Ambassador would be leaving as it has been a pleasure working with her.
“It has been a pleasure working with you Ambassador and our cooperation has been smooth with bilateral relations improved,” Cde Mumbengegwi said.
“You have really projected and promoted our relations in areas such as health, education and pharmaceutical where Zimbabwe can benefit from especially looking at that you have developed your own vaccine as a developing country. As a developing country your achievements are far beyond others and this makes us proud. We know that wherever you go, you will defend us with a clenched fist.”
Cde Mumbengegwi added that the two countries share sanctions hardships although not compared in ferocity.
“Sanctions are a warfare and in a way the conflict in Ukraine has helped our own skeptical people understand the effects and suffering sanctions cause.”
Speaking at the same meeting Cuban Ambassador Carmelina Ramirez Rodriguez noted that working with the ruling Party ZANU PF has made work easy.
“It is a sad moment to have to leave because our relations have been good. It has been difficult with the sanctions imposed on Cuba to find the ways to explain to our people the impact and moreso with COVID-19 but when you are in a friendly country things are easier,” Cuban Ambassador said.
“The conflict in Ukraine has affected us as most of our tourists come from Russia and with the rising prices of fuel you can imagine because we are not able to sell our nickel because of the sanctions.”
The two officials noted that it is sad that the young people do not understand that the opposition cannot provide solutions for them as they are puppets of the West. They added that it is also unbelievable that the Europeans refuse to understand the nature of the local people.
