President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2023 re-election bid has taken a huge boost. One by one, prominent Zimbabweans mostly those in diaspora and some who once were his sworn critics are lining up to openly ratchet up his campaign.

Recently, some of prominent Zimbabweans have been announcing their return to Zimbabwe to help President Mnangagwa’s government with positive image building.

The development has taken the opposition, especially MDC-A leader Nelson Chamisa’s media strategists by big surprise.

Among the prominent Zimbabweans who have thrown their weight behind ED, as President Mnangagwa is popularly known, include media guru Pardon Gambakwe, political activist Tinashe Jonas, author and motivational speaker Bishop Joshua Maponga, multi-millionaire cleric Prophet Passion Java and anti-sanctions lobbyist and social engineer Rutendo Bereza Matinyarare.

Gambakwe visited Zimbabwe late last year for the first time in years and wasted no time to tout the major developments that have taken place in Zimbabwe since ED took office in 2017.

On his part, Prophet Java has been criss-crossing the country openly campaigning for President Mnangagwa telling the huge crowds: “ED is the best leader at the moment to take the country forward. He is a unifier and knows what he is doing.”

Meanwhile, a renowned motivational speaker, author, musician and social entrepreneur answering to the name Bishop Joshua Maponga on his return to Zimbabwe after years in South Africa and Swaziland, did not waste time to sing praises about Mnangagwa’s transformational leadership.

He booked and appointment and met President Mnangagwa at his official residence where he also declared his support for ED’s re-election bid.

Tinashe Jonas, a political activist-cum staunch ED supporter is also currently in Zimbabwe.

Speaking to Gambakwe media at the OR Tambo International Airport recently, Jonas said he was heading back home to be on the ground to drum up support for ED and the Zanu-PF.

Said Jonas: “The Zimbabwe republic was founded through blood and sweat. It is unfortunate therefore to see some opposition politicians collaborating with the west in order to destabilise our beautiful country. I am back in Zimbabwe to show my support for President Mnangagwa and the Zanu-PF government. Saboteurs and traitors have no space in Zimbabwe, we are ready to defend the revolution.”

The endorsements President Mnangagwa continues to get from prominent Zimbabweans is proving effective on his approval ratings on the political front.

Zimbabweans are ready to give President Mnangagwa another mandate next year largely due to his exceptional and no-nonsense type of leadership.

Zimbabwe economy, despite the threat of Covid-19, has grown by nearly 8 percent. Despite being on devastating sanctions, Zimbabwe under ED continues to witness various developments such as roads and other public infrastructure in all the 10 administrative provinces.
