The Second Republic has made a move to allow those who have fallen victim to the unquenchable thirst of land barons to regularise their properties.
This unprecedented and pleasant development was announced by His Excellency, Cde ED Mnangagwa at the 358th ordinary politburo session in Harare today.
In the last two decades the MDC-led municipalities where on a land give away spree promoting the rise of land barons in urban cities, Harare harbouring the most victims.
Illegal structures where erected on wetland, fill-ins, even roadside and most recently in the middle of the roads in Glenorah.
The Government had responded to this unscrupulous behaviour by demolishing all structures constructed on unauthorised land.
Some of the land was approved by the greedy ‘City Fathers’ causing confusion among urban dwellers and the law enforcement agents.
The regularisation of these illegal structures is a stitch in time as it will curb demolitions that have always resulted in destitution of innocent citizens.
This development will also contribute to the President ED Mnangagwa’s agenda to “provide adequate housing that is secure, peaceful and has dignity to
every citizen,” by the year 2025.
