The success of recent National People’s conference held in Bindura, Mashonaland Central is the beginning of the process for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resounding victory in 2023 harmonised elections.

This was said by Zanu-PF Malawi District leadership during a meeting held recently in Malawi’s capital Lilongwe.

The main agenda of the interface meeting was for the leadership of Zanu-PF Malawi District to brief members of some of the resolutions that were passed at the recent party conference as well as welcoming into the district new members.

Zanu-PF Malawi District interim Chairperson Cde Tendai Maguranyanga Chambati told this publication the executive and entire membership endorses the resolution to nominate President E.D. Mnangagwa as the revolutionary party’s standard torchbearer in polls slated for 2023.

“We had an interface meeting. The whole idea was brief Zanu PF members in Malawi about the recently held national people’s conference. We also welcomed new members into the fold who were previously associating pr sympathising with the opposition.

“As you are aware, Malawi is home to a good number of Zimbabweans. That is why we thought of establishing the Malawi District with an aim to improve the rapport between the ruling party and Zimbabweans living in Malawi. The response has been overwhelming and the members will travel to Zimbabwe in 2023 to vote for President ED,” explained Cde Chambati.

He added that such interface meetings will be taking place on quarterly basis.

Soon after becoming President, President Mnangagwa promised to be leader for all Zimbabweans and immediately he embarked on engagement and re-engagement drive with an aim to rebuild relations between Zimbabwe and other foreign nations as well as ordinary Zimbabweans.

Previously, relations between Zanu PF and those living in diaspora were frosty but now most of those in diaspora have a soft spot for President Mnangagwa. Even his once sworn critics, are now confessing using various media platforms that the President means good for the country.

“I used to be anti-Zanu PF, anti-Zimbabwe government, anti-Mnangagwa, anti-everything. However, President ED’s robust policies in all sectors of economy and his willingness to listen to dissenting voices made me change my mind. I already registered to vote for ED in 2023, in 2018 i voted for Chamisa,” revealed one of the participants at the meeting answering to the name Fadzayi Ndlovu originally from Bulawayo but now running a pharmacy shop in Lilongwe.
