THE Health Professions Authority of Zimbabwe and the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe will host the 23rd Association of Medical Councils of Africa annual conference in Victoria Falls from July 17 to 21.
The conference will run under the theme “Role of the Regulator in the Delivery of the Universal Health Coverage”.
The theme of the conference resonates well with the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s mandate of providing health at primary level.
Conference coordinator Mrs Josephine Mwakutuya said more than 150 delegates had already confirmed their participation at the conference.
The meeting is expected to attract more than 200 delegates mainly from Africa.
“On top of the agenda of discussions is the formulation of policies of health professions regulators to ensure that universal health coverage is achieved to the population of Africa,” she said.
Mrs Mwakutuya encouraged local medical, dental practitioners and health professionals not to miss out this great opportunity to network with their peers from the region.
Health Professions Authority of Zimbabwe secretary-general Mr Shepherd Humure encouraged health players to be part of the conference.
“The conference is an opportunity to foster best practices by health professionals and ethical practices as well as harmonisation of standards for medical education and training,” said Mr Humure.
