President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in his address at the 382nd Ordinary Session of the Politburo this morning, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of ZANU PF to unity, national development, and the economic transformation of Zimbabwe. He opened his speech with a rallying call, urging members to uphold the Party’s principles, remain steadfast in their resolve, and continue advancing the nation’s interests under the ZANU PF banner.
As he welcomed the Politburo members, the President underscored the significance of the meeting, which preceded the Central Committee session scheduled for the following day. He expressed confidence that preparations for this key gathering were progressing well. True to Party tradition and constitutional mandate, the meeting served as a crucial platform for reflection on pressing national matters and a review of the implementation of policies aimed at fostering economic stabilization, modernization, and industrialization.
Economic progress and national development
President Mnangagwa highlighted that, through well-crafted and responsive strategies, the Party and Government were addressing both opportunities and challenges in pursuit of Zimbabwe’s shared national vision. He emphasized that, at the heart of the ongoing economic revolution, the aspirations and well-being of the people remained paramount.
Turning to the agricultural sector, he reported that transformative programs were in full swing to enhance food security and national sovereignty. A structured framework had been put in place to facilitate the issuance of title deeds, guaranteeing security of tenure and access to financing. He called upon stakeholders in agriculture to intensify preparations for the forthcoming 2025 Winter Wheat Season to ensure continued success in the sector.
On infrastructure, he noted that with the rainy season drawing to a close, major construction projects were poised to resume in earnest. The housing sector, he said, had experienced phenomenal growth, particularly in rural areas and growth points, marking a new era of modernization and development.
He also spoke about the impressive surge in tourist arrivals and the rapid expansion of mining projects, both of which were contributing significantly to the country’s GDP. Earlier that morning, he had met with representatives from small and medium enterprises, as well as vendors, in an effort to foster dialogue, build consensus, and explore policy solutions for the formalization and modernization of the sector. These positive indicators, he affirmed, reflected a nation on the rise, with Vision 2030 remaining firmly within reach.
A historic milestone in Sports and Youth Empowerment
The President took a moment to commend the remarkable achievement of Honourable Minister Kirsty Coventry, who had been elected as the first female and 10th President of the International Olympic Committee. He described her victory as a historic milestone for Zimbabwe, underscoring the country’s growing influence on the global stage.
Further, he lauded the Party, the Youth League, and stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in launching the Presidential Youth Empowerment Facility. The enthusiastic participation of industry players in this initiative, he noted, was reinvigorating Party-State and private sector partnerships. He reaffirmed ZANU PF’s commitment to accelerating youth and women’s empowerment through innovative enterprises and long-term economic pathways, all while promoting a culture of hard work, production, and productivity.
Strengthening Party structures and national unity
Addressing Party members, President Mnangagwa issued a call to action, urging ZANU PF to be the first responders to the challenges facing communities. He emphasized the need for Party structures, from the Cell level to the Central Committee and Politburo, to provide honest leadership and remain focused on improving livelihoods.
He commended Zimbabweans for their clarity, patriotism, and national consciousness, which had effectively countered attempts by rogue elements seeking to undermine the country’s peace, unity, and sovereignty. He reiterated that Zimbabwe would forever remain a constitutional democratic nation where citizens lived in harmony.
With unwavering confidence, he proclaimed, “Those who bark will continue to do so, but the nation marches forward.” He likened ZANU PF to an unstoppable train, always moving forward, guided by the Party’s ideological path, day and night. He reminded members that the Party Constitution was sacred, forming the foundation of the movement, and that those who strayed from the revolutionary path would inevitably be left behind.
Mobilization for national events and future growth
The President expressed satisfaction with the Party’s continued leadership in overseeing national events. He acknowledged the reports tabled on the state of preparedness for upcoming national occasions, including the 45th Independence Anniversary and the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair. He urged Party structures to intensify their mobilization efforts to ensure these events were successful and reflective of the nation’s progress.
Concluding his address, he reaffirmed the Party’s dedication to uniting the people under the banner of ZANU PF. He called on members to exhibit exceptional leadership and remain steadfast in their commitment to guiding the Party and Government in delivering the country’s development aspirations on schedule.
With a decisive tone, he declared, “We are building our nation, brick by brick, stone upon stone, and we will not be swayed.” He reminded the gathering that Zimbabweans were a resilient people with an indomitable spirit, destined to achieve their national vision.
With that, he directed the session towards the agenda of the day, setting the stage for critical deliberations aimed at further advancing Zimbabwe’s progress.
