HARARE, ZIMBABWE – In a significant stride toward achieving its ambitious Vision 2030 goals, the Government of Zimbabwe has intensified efforts to harness the transformative potential of its global diaspora community. The forthcoming 3rd Zimbabwe Annual Diaspora Conference (ZADC), slated for April 10-12, 2025, in the picturesque eastern Province of Manicaland, represents a cornerstone in this strategic engagement initiative.

This landmark gathering will serve as a nexus where Zimbabweans residing abroad can reconnect with their homeland while exploring substantive opportunities for investment, trade expansion, and philanthropic involvement in national development projects.

Diaspora Engagement: A Pillar of National Strategy

The administration’s recognition of the Diaspora as an indispensable catalyst for economic growth is evidenced by its prominent positioning within the National Development Strategy (NDS1). Under the stewardship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, comprehensive initiatives such as the “Know Your Diaspora” program have been instrumental in cultivating mutually advantageous relationships with Zimbabweans dispersed across the globe.

This systematic approach to diaspora engagement has manifested through a series of meticulously organized investment conferences at both provincial and national levels. Previous gatherings in Matabeleland North and South provinces, alongside national conventions in Bulawayo and Masvingo, have yielded tangible results – marked increases in investment inquiries, financial remittances, and philanthropic contributions from the diaspora community. These positive outcomes reflect growing confidence in government-led economic initiatives.

The upcoming 3rd ZADC aims to build upon this foundation by providing an interactive forum where Diaspora members can substantively contribute to Zimbabwe’s economic renaissance and social transformation.

A significant aspect of the Conference involves soliciting diaspora input on the revised Zimbabwe Diaspora Policy before its parliamentary presentation – underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusive policy formulation.
