Deep cooperation between Zimbabwe and China in their yearly military exchange programs provide an opportunity for both countries to learn from each other’s experiences, tactics, and technologies, Zimbabwe’s Major Sean Mnangagwa has said.
Major Mnangagwa is currently on an exchange program with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
“These programs are designed to enhance warfare strategies, chemical warfare capabilities, high-tech integration, infiltration techniques, and ground forces command, among other specialized tasks. The primary objective of these exchange programs is to facilitate the exchange of military information, knowledge, and special operations between the two countries,” said the Major.
Zimbabwe and China have a long-standing relationship in the field of military cooperation. Over the years, they have engaged in various joint military exercises and training programs to strengthen their defense capabilities.
According to Major Sean Mnangagwa, the area of focus in these exchange programs is warfare strategies.
“Both Zimbabwe and China aim to improve their understanding of modern warfare tactics and develop effective strategies to counter potential threats. By sharing their expertise and experiences, they can enhance their overall defense capabilities and be better prepared for any future conflicts.
“Chemical warfare is another important aspect of these exchange programs. Zimbabwe and China recognize the significance of being well-prepared for chemical attacks and the need to develop effective countermeasures. Through joint training exercises and knowledge sharing, they can enhance their abilities to detect, respond to, and mitigate the impact of chemical weapons,” he said, adding that high-tech integration is also emphasized in these military exchanges.
He said both Zimbabwe and China understand the importance of incorporating advanced technologies into their defense systems.
“By collaborating on research and development projects, they can leverage each other’s expertise in areas such as cyber security, artificial intelligence, drones, and advanced weaponry,” explained the Major.
Infiltration techniques are another key focus area. Zimbabwe and China recognize the need to understand and counter various forms of infiltration, including espionage and sabotage. By exchanging knowledge on intelligence gathering, surveillance techniques, and counterintelligence measures, they can enhance their ability to protect national security interests, he said.
According to Major Mnangagwa, ground forces command is an essential component of any military operation. Through these exchange programs, Zimbabwe and China aim to improve their command and control capabilities, as well as their coordination with other branches of the military, he said.
“By sharing best practices and conducting joint exercises, they can enhance their ability to execute complex military operations effectively. The exchange of military information, knowledge, and special operations is a fundamental aspect of these programs.
“Both countries understand the value of learning from each other’s experiences and expertise. By fostering a culture of collaboration and cooperation, they can strengthen their defense capabilities and build a solid foundation for future joint operations,” said the Major.
