ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans Affairs Cde Douglas K Mahiya says there is no room for another political party in Zimbabwe as the children of war veterans will continue with the legacy they fought for.

Speaking during the Children of War Veterans Convention at the Party Headquarters this Thursday, Cde Mahiya said the War veterans generation cannot go against the principles of ZANU PF.

“The War Veterans generation who fought for Zimbabwe’s independence and their children cannot go against the principles of ZANU PF, it is a taboo. They all have one totem which is ZANU PF,” Cde Mahiya said.

“You children of the war veterans are the hybrid of ZANU PF and our strength. You must follow the order given by the Commander and your agenda is that of your parents just as our agenda was that given by our President Cde E.D Mnangagwa and Ambuya Nehanda when she said her bones would rise.

“You have seen how President Mnangagwa is working to develop this country and we must usher him into office on 23 August 2023.”

He added that in the League’s objective to arouse the revolutionary spirit, provincial rallies would be held by the League to ensure that on 23 August President Mnangagwa is ushered into office.

Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting children of war veterans expressed their zeal to carry on the legacy of their parents.

Cde Patricia Ruzhawe (45) said “we have learnt to be united as children of war veterans and carry on the legacy of our parents. President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is our sole President on 23 August and will make sure that he wins resoundingly.”

She added that her mother Cde Calista Tandi has told her how hard life was during the war.

“She has told me about how they would go for days without water and food and had to resort to drinking their own urine. The enemy would also throw poisoned tinned foods and those who could not control themselves would die.”

At least 500 children of the war veterans attended the meeting.
