HARARE- President and First Secretary of ZANU-PF, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, has called on the party’s leadership to remain steadfast in their commitment to national development, unity, and loyalty as the ruling party continues to consolidate its position. Addressing the 125th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee at ZANU-PF Headquarters today , the President emphasized the need for strategic reflection and decisive action in propelling the party’s agenda forward.

The session commenced with a moment of silence in honor of the nation’s fallen heroes, whom the President described as having served Zimbabwe with “consistency, loyalty, and patriotism.” He urged party members to uphold these values, ensuring that the revolutionary party remains deeply rooted in the aspirations of the people.

A Call for strategic leadership

President Mnangagwa underscored the significance of the Central Committee as the party’s principal decision-making body, urging members to provide recommendations that align with national goals. He emphasized the importance of economic transformation at the grassroots level, calling on leaders to drive initiatives that improve household incomes and sustain the party’s growth.

“The current leadership and membership have a duty to guarantee the longevity of our party. We must look each other in the eye and pledge unwavering loyalty and patriotism,” he declared.

Crackdown on disloyalty

Taking a firm stance against internal discord, the President warned against members engaging in self-serving political ambitions, labeling such behavior as “chameleon-like.” He criticized those prioritizing personal aspirations over the party’s collective vision, stressing that “roguish elements” would soon face consequences.

“Forty-five years after the struggle, it is shameful that some are still pursuing delusional individualism. This must stop,” he warned. “Our party does not tolerate treachery.”

Economic and social progress

President Mnangagwa highlighted key economic strides, reaffirming the party’s commitment to self-sufficiency through initiatives like the Village Business Units and the Presidential Drilling Scheme, both of which he said were bolstering household food security.

He expressed confidence in the country’s agricultural success, noting that Zimbabwe is poised for another bumper harvest following good rains this season. Energy security was also addressed, with the President welcoming the increased participation of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in boosting the country’s energy sector.

Empowerment and Inclusion

The President reaffirmed ZANU-PF’s commitment to youth empowerment, lauding the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme as a strategic economic vehicle to support young Zimbabweans. He also acknowledged the ongoing War Veterans Fund and Title Deeds Scheme, urging beneficiaries to engage in viable economic enterprises that contribute to national development.

Underscoring the party’s inclusive agenda, Cde ED Mnangagwa highlighted his recent engagement with vendors, reiterating that no Zimbabwean should be left behind. “ZANU-PF remains immersed with the people at the grassroots level,” he said.

International recognition and future goals

On the international front, President Mnangagwa celebrated the election of former Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry as the first female President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), hailing it as a historic achievement for Zimbabwe, SADC, and Africa as a whole.

As the party gears up for the 45th Independence Celebrations in Gokwe Nembudziya, the President extended an open invitation to all Zimbabweans to participate.

Strength in unity

President Mnangagwa dismissed attempts to destabilize the party through social media misinformation, asserting that ZANU-PF remains the party of choice in driving sustainable economic growth. He urged leaders to provide consistent and decisive leadership, emphasizing that no distractions would derail the party’s progress.

“We are marching forward, and the party continues to garner support,” he affirmed. “ZANU-PF is like an elephant—it keeps moving forward regardless of the noise.”

With a rallying call for peace, unity, and progress, the President concluded by urging members to engage in fruitful and frank deliberations to strengthen the party’s vision and ensure its continued dominance in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.
